However, not all store s using these trade names havefilex bankruptcy. For example, stores operated by franchisees are not namedf as debtors inthese filings,” S&A Restaurant Corp. said in a statementf Tuesday. Bennigan's Grill & Tavern used to have a numbefr of Triangle locations but they all closed down inrecenty years. Raleigh was home to a Steak & Ale for decadese before it shut down in 2005 in aleasew dispute.
The filing does not includer Ponderosa orBonanza restaurants, also owneds by Metromedia. Bennigan’s has 255 restaurant locations in the 159 of whichare company-owned, according to trad publication Nation’s Restaurant News. Plano, Tex-basede Metromedia Restaurant Group, owned by billionaire John Kluge’s , violated termes of lending agreements with earlierthis year, accordinb to the Wall Street Journal, citinhg people familiar with the case.
