” Thirty-one percent of respondents indicated they knew that a brancd name drug cost 50-70 percent more on average than its generid counterpart. Seventy-one percent of consumers remain concerner about drug costs with more than one infour (27 having either delayed filling, not filled, or not take n as directed a prescription drug to save Twenty-one percent of all respondents say they have talked to their doctor recently abouty switching to a less expensive drug. Fifty-seven percent of thoser polled said they take prescription drugs weekly.
Of those, 83 percent (or 47 percenyt of the total sample) take Of those who do not take generic drugs on aweekly basis, 58 percenr say it is because there is no generic available for the drug they Sixty-four percent of those who take genericsx say their doctor recommended them and 43 percengt say their pharmacist recommenderd them. Of those who do not take generic drugs on aweeklt basis, 58 percent say they woulx if their pharmacist brought a generic to theif attention as a less expensive, identical substitute; and 52 percen t say their doctor would have to recommend it.
