UTSA accounting doctoral students are now eligible to applhy for the Accounting Doctoral Scholarwsfellowship program. The UTSA College of Business is one of only 40 academid programs nationwide to participate in the Accountintg DoctoralScholars program. Each year, the institutw will select 30 candidates nationwide to receivera four-year $30,000 stipend. The aim of the Accountingb Doctoral Scholars program is to increas e the number of doctoral accounting graduatesin America. There is a criticaol shortage of accounting doctoral faculty teaching auditinbg andtax courses, according to UTSA and the The goal is to increase the number of peopl e with doctoral degrees in accounting.
The plan is to encourage thesew individuals to then join the busines s faculty at schools throughout the country so that they can teacnhundergraduate courses. The institute founde the Accounting Doctoral Scholars programin 2008. The programn is funded by accounting Candidates should have experienc in audit or tax in a publicaccounting firm, be a U.S. citizebn or permanent resident and be working toward a careet as an accountingfaculty member.
